ORG researchers receive funding from a number of local, national, and international sources for their important and cutting-edge work.

For example, in recognition of his scientific achievements and work in ontology, Barry Smith received the Wolfgang Paul Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2002. Over the years, Smith has received grant monies totaling in the millions of dollars for his work in ontology and other important areas of study.

Also, Werner Ceusters has received grant monies totaling in the millions of dollars for his work in ontology and other areas.

Other researchers in the ORG continue to earn and receive grant money for their significant work in ontology and ontology-related matters.
